Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) and In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) are two of the most familiar techniques in Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART). Ovulation Induction (OI), is also one of the more commonly used techniques in ART. While nobody ever wants to get to this point within their family building process, for some, it’s their only option.
Any couple going through ART can tell you that it brings with it its own unique set of stressors, hopes and fears. This is where things like qigong, meditation, and acupuncture can be so helpful in navigating the journey with grace. Thanks to the tireless efforts of the fellows of the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine (ABORM), there is a wide amount of research supporting the positive impact of acupuncture in IVF cycles. Of course, this doesn’t mean that it can’t also be helpful in IUI or OI cycles, but because of the nature of IVF, its role can be better researched in a more concrete way.
